Hi,

My name is Melody Megginson. I was shot in the head by my baby’s father on May 18, 2019. I was called Jane in the hospital when I was in a coma for days until they identified me. While in the hospital, the police searched for my kids. Thankfully, my baby's daddy had dropped them at a firehouse after an amber alert was issued out for him. I was not expected to survive the bullet shot. The bullet is still in my brain. I couldn’t speak and had to learn how to walk again. The right side of my face is paralyzed. Also, my skull was removed due to sweeping in the brain. I have had 11 surgeries and still have two more surgeries to go. The two remaining surgeries are to put a plate in my head. Currently, I have to wear a helmet to protect my brain and my face.

It has been really hard financially for me and my children. I have two young boys that I was separated from during my medical procedures. Jayson is now one and was three weeks when the incident occurred. Anthem is now three and was two when it occurred. I am 25 but was 24 when I was shot in 2019. That horrible day in 2019 really changed my life forever. I now have seizures due to this, which is hard, because I can't hit my head due to it being exposed. Because I can't work, I really need help. My only source of income is $601 from social security.

Thank you and God bless.
